Access & Facilities


Physical Access

Galway Arts Centre 47 Dominick Street’s main public entrance has a wheelchair ramp to provide entry to the ground floor. There is a manual door to enter the public reception and ground floor gallery. There is no elevator access to our first floor gallery and our offices are not wheelchair accessible.
Galway Arts Centre’s Nuns Island Theatre is a ground floor wheelchair accessible venue.

Disabled Parking

There is a single disabled parking space on Dominick Street located across the road from Galway Arts Centre outside Rouge Café.

There is a single disabled parking space across the road from Nuns Island Theatre located outside 19 Nuns Island.

There are three disabled parking spaces in the Mill Street Public car park located next to Mill Street Garda Station. This car park is approximately 100m (1min walk) from Galway Arts Centre 47 Dominick Street and approx 100m (1min walk) from Nuns Island Theatre.

Toilets

There are gender neutral public toilets located on the ground floor of Galway Arts Centre’s venues at 47 Dominick Street and Nuns Island Theatre.

Baby Changing

There is a baby change facility located in the gender neutral accessible toilet on the ground floor of Galway Arts Centre 47 Dominick Street.

Seating

We are able to provide folding chairs to any visitors who may need to sit down regularly. Please ask the member of staff at the front desk, who will be happy to assist. If you require a seat with armrests please do ask and we will be happy to provide this.

Assistance Animals

Assistance animals are always welcome.

Alternative Viewing Times

We are happy to offer relaxed sessions upon request for anyone who may benefit from a more relaxed and quiet environment. Should an exhibition present a potential sensory overload for you or a member of your party, please contact the gallery. Wherever possible, we will arrange a time for you to visit when we can adapt the lighting and sound-level of the exhibition, in order to facilitate a comfortable experience.
