As part of a new series of Autumn Workshops presented by Galway Arts Centre and Cúirt International Festival of Literature

A 2 hour workshop exploring the art of oral storytelling, composition, and expression, hosted by Órla Mc Govern, storyteller and Artistic Director of Moth & Butterfly. Over two hours, using writing, improvisation, and conversation, we will explore a tapas of tips and techniques used in the rich artform of storytelling.

Órla Mc Govern is an award-winning Storyteller, Writer & Performer based in The West of Ireland. She has told and performed all over the world at venues large and small, from the Forests of Finland to the Glens of Antrim. She is Artistic Director of Moth & Butterfly; a storytelling & improvisation collective that hosts worldwide events and a biennial festival. Órla plays have been produced on more than one continent, including productions at Origin First Irish NYC (‘Kitchen’), Cúirt/Fregoli, Galway (‘Tick Tock’ & ‘Wristbands’) and 24 hour plays Abbey Theatre/DYT (‘Lyubov’ Eto Tsirk’). She performs as an actor for theatre, film and tv, and also makes original work. She is an artist with BLAST, and Poetry Ireland’s Writers In Schools’. Órla has written two children’s books (The History Press): ’Dublin Folk Tales For Children’, and ‘Wild Waves And Wishing Wells’.

She is a member of Storytellers of Ireland, The Ohana Collective, and the Interface Inagh community in Connemara. www.orlamcgovern.com
