Galway Arts Centre is pleased to present a special afternoon event as part of The Air We Share, a Creative Climate Action project exploring air quality, climate, and the shared environment in Galway.

From 3–5pm on Friday 29 August at Nuns Island Theatre, the programme will feature a screening of the creative documentary ‘The Air We Share’ by Tom Flanagan, followed by presentations from Creative Ireland and artists Paula McCloskey and Sam Vardy (a place of their own), and culminating in a panel discussion chaired by Adam Stoneman. The panel will bring together artists, community representatives, and policymakers to reflect on the role of the arts in stimulating climate dialogue and collective action.

Light refreshments will be available on arrival – advanced booking required via Eventbrite

This event forms part of the exhibition The Air We Share (running until 21 September 2025), which presents the outcomes of three year-long artist residencies by Leon Butler, Christopher Steenson, and a place of their own (Paula McCloskey & Sam Vardy). Developed in collaboration with scientists, communities, and cultural partners, the residencies explored air quality and climate through creative interventions, citizen science, and public engagement.

The Air We Share brings together a consortium of local partners, which is led by Galway City Council and includes Galway Arts Centre, the University of Galway’s Centre for Creative Technologies, the Centre for Climate and Air Pollution Studies and the Insight SFI Centre for Data Analytics, Westside Resource Centre, and Galway Culture Company.

The Air We Share is a recipient of the Creative Climate Action Fund, an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme
