Galway Youth Theatre present a fairy tale based on Shakespeare’s King Lear.

Meat and Salt tells the tale of what happens when scrupulously honest Little Daughter tells tyrannical Big Daddy she loves him as meat loves salt.

For her honesty, Little Daughter is banished from Big Daddy’s Kingdom. Eventually, she falls onto the Mountains of the Moon Hounds, and, following  many adventures, she meets The Young King who falls in love with her honesty. They agree to marry and her father is invited to the feast only to find a surprise waiting for him.

Meat and Salt is written by Marina Carr and is directed by Andrew Flynn.

The play takes place in Galway Arts Centre’s Nun’s Island Theatre from July 17 to 30 at 5pm. There is no show on Sunday July 23.
