Portraits Stephanie Dufresne, Abbie Madden and Elspeth McKeever present ‘Portraits’; a work in progress created during a week-long residency with Galway Dance Project. ‘Portraits’ is an exploration of the distance between us. Using gesture, play and music, the dancers tell a non-narrative story about how close we can be to each-other and how far.

Stephanie Dufresne, Elspeth McKeever and Abbie Madden are three young dance artists based in Ireland. Stephanie and Elspeth both began their training at the Corrib Dance Academy in Galway. Stephanie went on to pursue her Bachelors Degrees at Codarts in Rotterdam and since then has worked in the Netherlands, Ireland and England as a freelance dancer with companies such as Protein Dance, Chrysalis Dance, Icon Dance and Dam Van Huynh Dance and choreographers such as Theo Clinkard, Judith Sibley, John Heginbotham, John Scott and Marguerite Donlon.

Elspeth is an alumni of Northern School of Dance in Leeds. Abbie Madden is a dancer from South Australia who studied at Gravity Dance Studios and Adelaide College of the Arts and performed with the Australian Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble. She moved to Belfast in January to take up an internship with the award-winning ponydance.
