As part of Gallery Lates join us for a late opening of Veruca Salt at Galway Arts Centre.
Open until 9pm, this informal evening viewing offers visitors a relaxed opportunity to explore the exhibition after hours, and take it in at your own pace.
Marking fifty years since punk emerged as a disruptive cultural force, the 24th edition of TULCA Festival of Visual Arts, entitled Veruca Salt, considers what it means to know who you are and know what you want.
Curated by Sinéad Keogh, Veruca Salt approaches punk not as a fixed historical style, but as a living method: a way of working outside conventional structures, questioning received values, and making space through DIY culture, collective action and self-determination. The programme brings together artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians and community organisations whose work is shaped by independence, experimentation and a refusal to accept prescribed roles.
At Galway Arts Centre, Veruca Salt brings together work by Peter Bradley, Diana Chambers, Rachel Garfield, Saidhbhín Gibson, Guggi, Shota Kotake, Breda Lynch, Katie Moore, Ciara Rodgers and Del LaGrace Volcano. Across film, photography, sculpture, painting and installation, the exhibition brings together established and emerging practices shaped by independence, experimentation and the refusal of prescribed roles.
This takes place as part of our late night programme “Gallery Lates” supported by Galway City Council and the Department of Culture, Communications & Sport as part of the Galway City Night-Time Economy Action Plan.
