Ealaíonrú is a brand new networking event for queer artists, based in Galway, organised by Alaoise Scherer. Drawing on embodiment practices these events will encourage new connections and foster a greater community of collaboration. These workshops are an experimental ground for new experiences for artists to challenge their existing practices and challenge artists to dream outside their primary discipline.
Alaoise Scherer is a creative producer and theatre director whose multi-disciplinary practice places the body and collaboration at its centre. Working in theatre, her work is largely inspired by an academic curiosity towards voyeurism, marginalised experiences, and embodiment; challenging societal norms and conventions is a core element of her work.
Alaoise holds a Masters in Drama, Theatre, & Performance from the University of Galway where she has showcased multi-disicplinary work, she has most recently directed shows in Galway Theatre Festival & Cork Fringe Festival. Alaoise has performed and worked with with Macnas, Galway International Arts Festival, An Taibhdhearc, The Mick Lally Theatre, Galway Bay FM, and Lisa O’Neill. Alaoise is chairperson of Meitheal Aerach Chathair na Gaillimhe.
