Join us for an Artist Meet-Up facilitated by Galway Arts Centre’s Assistant Curator Tom McLean, creating an informal space to discuss artistic practice and encourage conversation, exchange, and connection.

All are welcome. Limited capacity, registration required – email opportunities@galwayartscentre.ie with the subject line ‘Artist Meet-Up’.

This informal gathering brings together artists from across Galway’s studio spaces (126, Engage, Artspace), alongside artists working independently, for an evening of discussion, exchange, and connection. The session will centre on short presentations of current work, group critique, and open conversation around opportunities, ideas, and future directions.

As a pilot for the ‘Gallery Lates’ programme, this event aims to create a space where artists can connect across networks, share their practices, and contribute to an ongoing dialogue around support, resources, and artistic development in the city.

usual and generous ways is an exhibition of works from the National Collection of the Irish Museum of Modern Art curated by poet Padraig Regan, Galway Arts Centre’s inaugural Writer in Residence. It brings together works by artists from Ireland and elsewhere, across a range of media, in which stone is not simply a material shaped by the artist’s hand, but becomes subject matter, an object of inquiry, and an agent to think with and through.

Tom McLean is the Assistant Curator of Galway Arts Centre. He is also a visual artist, and cultural event producer based in Galway City since 2012 and is the co-founder of Outset Gallery. As Assistant Curator at GAC, he is committed to fostering inclusive and innovative programming, actively supporting diverse artistic practices, and strengthening community engagement with the arts in Galway City.

This talk takes place as part of our late night programme “Gallery Lates” supported by Galway City Council and the Department of Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sports as part of the Galway City Night-Time Economy Action Plan.
