How relevant is an Art education within the cultural sector today?
The primary focus of the art education system is to develop innovative, creative thinkers.

With a panel made up of practitioners and students, the stuff of Arts education and for what it equips the Artist, is

Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th November, 2pm – 5pm: Galway Arts Centre Artist in Residence Ann Maria Healy will perform ‘Monochrome’ in Gallery 1

Thursday 26th November 6pm, Galway Arts Centre: Dock Discourse: Genius Loci. An evening presentation and discussion on the theme of Genius loci. The event is to bring together artists, academics and writers to delve into the idea of local distinctiveness and identity, along with memory, association and perception and how these inform a space, a place and the local environment of Galway.

Friday 27th November 6pm and Saturday 28th November, 10am – 5.30pm, Galway Arts Centre: Artists’ Anonymous Art Sale over the past month artists have been donating works of art which will all go on sale at 6pm for €80 each. 50% goes towards supporting the 2010 Galway Arts centre Visual Art & Education Programmes and 50% will go to the artist. Buyers can take their work home as soon as they purchase it. Deadline for artists’ submissions: 5.30pm Monday 23rd November, Galway Arts Centre
