The aim of the scheme is to give pupils in schools all over the county the opportunity to work with a professional artist on a project which will be decided by the artist and the school. Submissions are welcome from artists of any discipline. The school and the artist may only submit one application; therefore, the school may approach the artist they wish to work with or vice versa. The school and the artist must collaborate on developing a suitable project for the scheme and submit a proposal outlining the themes, aims and anticipated impacts the project will have on the school and participating students.
The artist fee will be funded by Galway County Council for 40 contact hours at a rate of €40/hr for a total of €1600 payable to the artist directly in two instalments.
To apply, please include the following:
* Application Form
* CV of artist
* Portfolio of Artist (Samples of previous work in the form of photographs or other documentation)
* Relevant previous experience in the educational or community context.
* A written proposal of the project indicating the aims and objectives, the number of pupils participating, the timeframe of the project as well as the anticipated learning outcomes.
Please submit all applications in writing to the Arts Office, Galway County Council, Prospect Hill, Galway. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 20th June 2014 at 4pm. Galway County Council will contact all applicants to advise them of the outcome of their application. All decisions made by the panel will be final.
