1000 years in one day @ Galway Arts Centre


For the third year running Galway Arts Centre in delighted to host the National Gallery’s Study Day for Leaving Cert Students in Nuns Island Theatre. It is presented by Helen Monaghan of the National Gallery of Ireland on February 2, 2010. She will cover Art in Ireland and European Art (1000AD – Present). This lecture functions as an intensive revision sessions focusing on key points – they are not intended as introductions to the topics. Handouts for each theme are provided.

Afterwards, students will be brought to Galway Arts Centre where Visual Arts Officer Maeve Mulrennan and Gallery Assistant Katie Wheatley will do a lecture on Art Appreciation, which is the 3rd section of the Leaving Certificate History of Art paper. This event is financed by the Galway County Council Arts Office. Booking is extremely limited for the two lectures.
