Red Bird Youth Collective - now recruiting new members for next project
Red Bird Youth Collective is now recruiting new members for their next project!
Red Bird Youth Collective is a youth led visual art group based in Galway Arts Centre in the West of Ireland. Working collaboratively with professional artists and architects, Red Bird make innovative projects, programme youth events for their peers and contribute to youth policies and strategies in Galway Arts Centre.
Red Bird is an organisation for 15-24 year olds; a group of likeminded young people from different backgrounds who come together to collaborate on engaging and challenging art projects.
The participants take ownership of projects and are involved in decision making from idea stage to completion. The group has collaborated with professional artists on visual art, film, architecture and performance projects. The group also engage with other aspects of the arts such as administration, curation, and event organisation.
Red Bird Youth Collective encourages creative and critical thinking. Problem-solving is a skill that the facilitators spend the most time developing. Red Bird is not a pre-art school course. Creativity and visual art is for everyone, not just professional artists. Red Bird has had members interested in engineering, science, architecture, writing and sport.
It's been a tough year for everyone and having a creative outlet is important. Red Bird is a way for young people to socialise in a safe environment, explore their creative ideas, meet new people, learn new skills and most importantly have some fun.
Red Bird workshops will be taking place online from Tuesday 6th April and Thursday 8th April at 5.30pm with professional artist Louise Manifold. Membership is free.
Workshops will take place via Zoom while restrictions are in place.
