Bloomsday Lecture

Prof. Brian Arkins will give a lecture on the 16th of June, Bloomsday, in the recption area of the Galway Arts Centre at 6pm entitled The Reception of Ulysses, Then, Later and Now.
There is limited capacity and entry is on a first come first serve basis. This is a free event for Bloomsday and will be under an hour in duration.
Brian Arkins is Professor emeritus of classics at NUI Galway. He was educated at Clongowes Wood college and at University College Dublin, where he obtained an M.A in Classics and a PhD in Latin. He is the author of 12 books of criticism. These include 3 books on Latin literature, 2 on Yeats, and 1 on Joyce. He is also the author of the first full length studies of the Irish poets James Liddy and Desmond Egan. Dr. Arkins is also the author of 150 journal articles. He has recently published a collection of his own poems, Towards A Credo.
