The Spoken Word: Writing for Performance - Remote Course
Are you an actor who’s wanted to write and perform your own work? Are you a writer who’s always wanted to speak your work aloud? Join actor and writer Michael Curran-Dorsano in a four-week workshop to explore bringing your words to life. A poet, voice over artist and actor, Michael draws on his experience on stage, screen and behind the microphone to help you craft compelling performances.
Each week, participants will explore writing in various forms (radio plays, poetic drama, storytelling) and infuse what they've learned into their own work. They will also practice performing their work aloud, with an emphasis on musicality, rhythm, and heightening their sensitivity to language.
Continuous editorial feedback throughout four-week workshop
Flexible individual workshop option available on request
Originally from Minnesota, Michael is a graduate of the Juilliard School's Drama Division, and NUIG's MA in Writing. He has performed on stage, screen, and behind the mic for over 10 years. Along with his work as an actor, he is set to publish his first poetry collection A Silent Song of River Stones with Galway based Dubh Publishing and is developing an animated series Hybernia: The Otherworld Cycle.
