Sewing for Beginners 2 with Marcella Morgan
If you’re comfortable with your sewing machine basics but have yet to tackle a pattern, this is the course for you. We’ll sew a simple versatile top and you’ll learn how to alter the pattern so that it works as a wardrobe staple that you can wear for casual, formal and dressy occasions. You should have time to sew at least two versions of the top.
The course will cover how to read a pattern and alter it to fit. You will also learn how to set a sleeve, sew a facing and hem. At the end of the course you will have the basic sewing skills that will allow you to further develop your sewing skills on your own.
Pattern will be provided but you will have to supply your own fabric. Larger equipment such as sewing machines will be provided, but you will need a basic sewing kit of your own. The sewing kit should include:
• Fabric scissors
• Tape measure
• Seam ripper
• Tailors’ chalk
The course is taught by experienced tutor Marcella Morgan. It lasts 8 weeks and costs €240. Class numbers are kept low so that each participant gets individual attention. This means courses fill up fast so book early!
Places can be booked online or in person at Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick St.
