A 60 minute
masterpiece, a computer-age Lord of the Flies. The writing is taut, vivid,
cool, scary and often funny.'
The Times
‘Chatroom’ is a
chilling and powerful tale of manipulation and the ultimate act of teenage
rebellion. Direct and honest, the play is intensely alive to the possibilities
and pressures we face on the verge of adulthood.
In cyberspace six bored teenagers type and chat. The chatroom is safe, a neutral
space; no-one knows each other, no-one uses their real name and people move
fluidly from room to room. However a chance on-line encounter with a group of
bored teenagers exposes an innocent fifteen year old to a dangerous world of
coercion and control.
Walsh’s black comedy unearths the dark underbelly of the internet and provides
a brilliantly insightful window into the world of teenage politics.
‘Chatroom’ is a black comedy by Enda Walsh the author of
award winning ‘Disco Pigs’ and ‘The Walworth Farce’
