May classes at Galway Arts Centre 2011

Welcome to Galway Arts Centre’s Summer programme of classes starting in May 2011 we hope you will find a course to suit you.  Childrens Friday afterschool classes will start on May 6th and Saturday classes on the 7th. Childrens Classes

Art Start Junior 4-6 yrs with Sibeal Ni Chuimin
Saturday 10.30-12pm   €80/70   8 weeks
This workshop will directly involve children with the current exhibition at Galway Arts Centre.  The workshop will be designed to stimulate, nurture and develop children’s creativity with an emphasis on both making art and responding to art in a fun and playful way.

Art Start 7-9yrs with Sibeal Ni Chuimin
Saturday 1-2.30pm   €80/70   8 weeks
This workshop will directly involve children with the current exhibition in Galway Arts Centre.  Emphasis will be on developing drawing and observational skills.Taking a theme from the current exhibition children will get the opportunity to develop their imagination and individual styles.

"self portraits with an imaginative eye".With Amantine Dehan
Friday 3.45-5.15pm 10-14yrs 8 weeks €80/70
In this 8 week course  we shall take a  journey through drawing ,writing,  collage and photography. your drawings will be based on your imagination and it will be a playful approach, be ready to make some unusual self portraits using images from magazines to represent yourself.  We will also do some creative writing to support our drawings and photographs . This class  will also introduce you to cameras such as the old fashioned polaroid and the medium format which is a very old  way of taking pictures. We shall have a small exhibition in the art center at the end of the eight weeks.
