Day Classes
Workshopping Our Writing(Beg) with Susan Millar Du Mars
Mondays 2-3.30pm (8 weeks) €90/80 (8 places)
This class is suitable for both beginning and continuing creative writing students, working in either poetry or fiction. Students will spend their week responding to writing exercises designed to inspire, rather than inhibit. In class, they will receive gentle feedback on their work from their classmates and from the teacher. They will then be expected to edit their pieces in time for the final class. Thus, students will gain experience in giving and responding to constructive criticism; and will, by the end of the course, have perhaps half a dozen polished pieces of writing finished. An ideal course for anyone who wants help moving from inspiration to finished product.
Creative Writing Poetry (Beginners) with Kevin Higgins
Fridays 2-3.30pm (8 weeks) €90/80 (8 places)
Over ten weeks Kevin Higgins will lead participants through every aspect of poetry writing, from inspiration to editing to learning how to take constructive criticism. He will also help participants get their poems out into the world; the last two classes will be dedicated to How To Publish Your Poems and How to Read Your Poems in Public.
Creative Writing Poetry (Advanced) with Kevin Higgins
Thursdays 2-4pm (10 weeks) €110/100 (15 places)
When is a poem complete? How does a poet find his or her poetic voice? How does a poet make the transition from writing individual poems to putting a first collection together? During the ten week advanced poetry class Kevin Higgins will attempt to answer all these questions, and more. This class is suitable for those who have done poetry workshops before, or for those who’ve already begun publishing poems in magazines.
